Last week, the Ainu were finally recognized as an indigenous people by the Japanese Government.
After decades of discrimination, Japan recognized the country’s ethnic Ainu minority as an “indigenous” people for the first time – a move welcomed by indigenous culture activists from around the wrold as a “first step” towards achieving equality. This is a momentous occasion and we would like you all to celebrate this fantastic outcome with us.
